What Do We Do?

The Girls Get IT! Initiative works with middle and high schools across Florida to increase female student participation and graduation rates in science technology, engineering, math (STEM), and information technology (IT); inform their female students of career options in the STEM, computer science and the information technology fields; and ultimately, increase the number of women employed in the STEM and IT fields across the state of Florida and beyond.

Why Do We Do It?

Nearly 75% of future jobs in the United States will require the use of technology, yet fewer than 33% of students in computer courses are female and women comprise only 20% of IT professionals and 13% of engineers.

Girls Get IT is a public/private partnership to create gender equity in the areas of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM).
